The Cost of A Lost Car Registration Sticker
I had to go down to AAA’s this morning because my registration for my car will expire this month. Now, I’ve already renewed the registration and paid my $35 but when the registration came in the mail, I somehow managed to lose the sticker in a bout of spring cleaning. You know - I put it in a safe place where I wouldn’t lose it and guess what…
The good news is that they offer same day replacement for the sticker, at least in my branch location.
The bad news is that it cost me about $16 - $7.50 for the new sticker + a $8 AAA fee. Apparently they charge more if you’re not a member.
As I stood in line waiting for my turn, I noticed a number of posters on the wall with cliche slogans about customer service being #1 and how it takes a long time to gain a customer but only a few seconds to lose one.
And they practice what they preach. At the counter, my service rep couldn’t have been nicer. She had my new sticker processed and ready within 5 minutes.
My main reason for being an AAA member is because I drive an older car and it’s risk management in case of a break down. The annual costs are nominal considering the benefits. But the pleasant customer service reps are an added bonus.
